Barmore, 26, has been charged with one count of assault and battery on a family or household member.

According to the documents, the woman involved told police the two were arguing over the air conditioning temperature in Barmore's bedroom, as well as a separate dispute involving food.

She alleged that as she attempted to leave the house, Barmore took her phone from her hands. She said she intended to open the door and scream for help but claimed Barmore grabbed her and threw her to the floor in front of the couple's 2-year-old child.

The woman further alleged Barmore grabbed her shirt near the neck area as she tried to get up before eventually letting her go. The police report also states that Barmore later rushed toward her but did not make contact.

Court records indicate the woman emailed police on Dec. 4 to say she did not wish to move forward with charges. A criminal complaint was nevertheless issued Dec. 16. Barmore is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 3, five days before Super Bowl 2026.

The Patriots said in a statement that they have been aware of the situation for months and have cooperated with the NFL.

"The New England Patriots are aware of reports regarding a pending February arraignment involving Christian Barmore," the team said. "The Patriots were made aware at the time of the incident and informed the NFL in a timely manner. The matter remains part of an ongoing legal process. We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely, and cooperate fully with the league."

The news comes one day after Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs had a motion hearing related to separate allegations stemming from a Dec. 2 incident at his Dedham, Mass., home. Diggs has been charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery. His arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 23. Diggs has denied the allegations through his attorney, who also represents Barmore.

New England, which has clinched a playoff spot at 13-3, hosts the Miami Dolphins in its regular-season finale Sunday at Gillette Stadium.
