The website reported that KC McClanahan was found dead early Tuesday morning at a condominium in Park City and local police ruled her death as a murder after discovering apparent knife wounds around her throat area.
KC, 28, was found lifeless in bed when authorities arrived on the scene, according to Park City Police Chief Wade Carpenter during a press conference held on Thursday morning. The officers responded to the incident after someone at the hotel reported a "ruckus" to a patrol sergeant in the area.
Authorities also noticed a trail of blood through an area of the parking lot on site.
The couple married in January and KC is survived by a 9-year-old daughter and a 7-year-old son from a prior relationship.
McClanahan, 46, was "detained by Park City Police and is a suspect in a homicide involving domestic violence," according to documents filed in Third District Court on Friday. The former football player received a no-bail warrant by the Utah Attorney General's office as he "now poses a flight risk due, as he has no ties to the State of Utah, has criminal charges pending in Arizona and Utah involving Domestic Violence, and has demonstrated a recent willingness to be a fugitive from justice," according to court documents.
McClanahan was arrested last month for a separate incident and charged with child kidnapping, as well as being a Fugitive from Justice, according to a statement from the PCPD. The incident involved his 8-year-old son from a previous relationship, who the former linebacker allegedly took from school property in Maricopa County, Arizona on October 3.
McClanahan spent time with the Dallas Cowboys, but never appeared in a game, according to Bleacher Report. He played four seasons in the Canadian Football League.
