At least one NFL general manager may be close to losing his job, with the coach possibly to follow

This wouldn't be a big surprise at all.

The San Francisco 49ers are the worst team in the NFC, and after 11 straight losses the team is looking to make several changes within the franchise.

According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, general manager Trent Baalke is likely on his way out, and Chip Kelly's fate could be up to the next general manager.

Baalke has missed on prospects in several drafts in recent years, and it shows on the field. Several key contributors have retired early, including Patrick Willis and Chris Borland. But the team hasn't drafted well, and they haven't been relevant since Jim Harbaugh left the franchise two years ago.

La Canfora also said 49ers owner Jed York could look to bring in Mike Shanahan in either a coaching or executive role. Kelly is 1-11 in his first year as head coach, but he will likely have to wait until new management comes in before he learns his future.

Since Thanksgiving of 2014, the 49ers are 7-26. Only the Cleveland Browns are worse in that timeframe.
