Baker Mayfield names his 'ideal spot' where he should land

He called the playoff contender an ideal landing spot.

Baker Mayfield isn't seen by everyone as being in play for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and, with his college success aside, there are reasons for that. Still, it would be easy for a team to fall in love with Mayfield's production and ability on the field and, to that end, many expect him to land within the top half of the first round when the draft arrives.

With that in mind, Mayfield hopped on the radio this week and was prompted about the Denver Broncos, who happen to hold a top-five pick in the class. Ryan Edwards of 760 AM in Denver brings word from Mayfield, who dropped a nugget about Denver that is very interesting.

"The Broncos are very close to being at this game right now. All they need is one game changer, somebody to lead those guys and give them that spark, and I think I could be that guy for any team. Going to Denver would be an ideal spot for me."

Of course, it has to be noted that Mayfield, like most prospects, likely just wants to land as high as possible on the draft board. Still, there is an argument to be made that the Broncos are just a quarterback away from contention and Mayfield may be as NFL-ready as any option available in this year's draft.

A lot can change between now and draft day but Mayfield saying this kind of thing about the Broncos should send many mock draft fans scrambling.
