Bears DB Tyrique Stevenson Apologizes To His Own Team, As Footage Showed Him Taunting Commanders Crowd And Not Paying Attention Before Tipping Final Hail Mary Pass

As the Washington Commanders were trailing the Chicago Bears 15-12 with two seconds left, just about everyone thought the game was over. Then Jayden Daniels threw up a Hail Mary heave from his own 35-yard line, it was tipped and caught by Noah Brown for a game-winning miracle touchdown.

A new fan angle of the play showed Bears defensive back Tyrique Stevenson taunting the Washington crowd in Northwest Stadium right before giving up the big play.

As the footage shows, Stevenson actually wasn't even paying attention when the ball was snapped, and when he finally noticed the play had started, he ran over to where the receivers were gathering near the end zone.

Then even more, he is the one who tipped the ball that was eventually caught for the game-winning catch.

Following the game, Stevenson issued out an apology.

"To Chicago & teammates my apologies for lack of awareness and focus.... The game ain't over until zeros hit the clock. Can't take anything for granted. Notes taken, improvement will happen," the Bears corner said in a social media post.

Former NFL players reacted to this, as Pat McAfee said in a tweet, "I'm not 100% sure but... I think 29's gonna have a BADDDDD time in meetings this week."

Then Robert Griffin III, who played quarterback for Washington from 2012-2014, highlighted Stevenson's actions.

Considering what led up to the final play, it may not all be Stevenson's fault as some have criticized the decision by the Bears to give up a wide open uncontested 13-yard pass with six seconds left. Ultimately, this is what set up the possibility of a Hail Mary.

All in all, with the 18-15 win, the Commanders now improve to 6-2.

Rookie quarterback Daniels acknowledged that this may have indeed been a miracle.
