Joe Burrow's toe injury has Cincinnati Bengals fans holding their breath, but head coach Zac Taylor is doing everything he can to keep hope alive.

Burrow is set to undergo surgery to repair torn ligaments in his toe, an injury suffered in Sunday's win over the Jaguars. ESPN has reported a three-month recovery window, which would sideline the franchise quarterback until at least December. That timeline likely ends Burrow's season, but Taylor isn't ready to go there just yet.
"At least the next four weeks," Taylor told reporters Wednesday with a wry smile, referencing Burrow's stint on injured reserve. "Best I can give you."
Translation: the Bengals aren't closing the book, even if the math looks grim.
Taylor wouldn't give a firm update on when the surgery will take place, only confirming that Burrow is still consulting with doctors. For now, the offense belongs to backup Jake Browning, who replaced Burrow against Jacksonville and had what wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase called a "rollercoaster" performance — including a game-winning touchdown drive and three interceptions.
Taylor said Browning's leadership will now be front and center. "It'll be good," Taylor said. "It's his first day of install today. We talked a little bit last night as we were game-planning. So, he's got a great attitude and so far so good. His voice is a little louder now."
The Bengals drafted Burrow No. 1 overall in 2020, and he quickly became the face of the franchise — leading them to a Super Bowl appearance in 2022 and back-to-back AFC North titles. Now, Cincinnati is staring at life without "Joe Cool" once again, and their playoff hopes may depend on Browning finding a way to steady the ship.
