Bill Belichick names the "first guy" he would recommend for the NFL Hall of Fame

Belichick has registered five Super Bowl wins and an overall 243-117 record over 23 years.

As Bill Belichick approaches Tom Landry's mark for third-most wins all-time by a coach, the future Hall of Famer talked up former Dallas Cowboys executive Gil Brandt and laid out why he deserves to be a Hall of Famer in his own right, per NFL.com.

"Looking at Gil Brandt and the job that he did with the personnel, he certainly should be in the Hall of Fame based on his contributions to this game and contributions to the personnel and scouting side of it," Belichick said Monday. "He'd probably be the first guy I would put in there."

Brandt worked for the Cowboys as the vice president of player personnel from 1960-89, where Dallas won two Super Bowl titles and five NFC Championships. According to the report, Brandt also helped with the creation of the NFL Scouting Combine.

With the caliber of personnel and players Belichick has worked around over his storied career, Brandt isn't exactly the first person who would come to mind for the coach's inclusion in the Hall of Fame. But he certainly deserves it.
