Turns out Josh Allen was a little more banged up than he let on.

The Bills quarterback showed up to new head coach Joe Brady's intro presser with a surprise accessory. That would be crutches. Then he dropped the bomb — offseason foot surgery. Broken bone. No big deal, apparently.
"If we had to play a game this week, I would find a way to play," Allen told reporters. Because of course he would.
Buffalo's new president of football ops, Brandon Beane, casually mentioned Allen "went and had his foot fixed" like he got a tire rotated. The surgery took place in Birmingham, Alabama, and caught pretty much everyone off guard. There were no real signs that this was coming.
Allen said the issue traced back to an old foot injury that flared up again during a Week 16 win over the Browns. He still played the next week in a loss to the Eagles, then kept gutting it out through the playoffs. X-rays didn't show anything serious. His pain tolerance told a different story.
He kept popping up on the injury report (foot, knee, finger) but never missed a snap. That's 122 straight regular-season starts, dating back to 2018. Former coach Sean McDermott tried to keep an eye on him. Good luck with that.
"You've got to know, to get [No.] 17 off the field, you're gonna have to ... I'm gonna have to wrestle him," McDermott said this past season.
