Brandon Marshall tries to save a Jets team that's already beyond repair, and ends up doing more damage

New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall has long been known as an emotional guy who sometimes lets it get the better of him.

At halftime, during their matchup with the New England Patriots last Sunday, in which the Jets were getting dismantled 27-0 after two frames, was one such time.

Marshall went on a boisterous rant in the locker room that was intended to fire players up, but ended up rubbing many of them the wrong way.

"When we're getting blown out at halftime, there's no reason to be fighting amongst each other," New York safety Calvin Pryor told ESPN. "I think that's why guys were upset because we needed to be fighting against the Patriots, instead of the Jets."

Pryor said a lot of the players were already feeling demoralized and Marshall's misguided outburst should have been saved for another time. But Marshall, for his part, believes not everyone had a bad reaction to his fiery speech. He said some players had a positive response.

"We were getting our butts kicked, and I was trying to get guys to respond, but not everyone responds to certain things the same way," Marshall said. "It was good because a lot of people got involved after that. "It was mostly for the offensive guys, but being in the middle and as boisterous as I was, other people got involved."

The Pats ended up scoring another 14 points after the half, while the Jets managed only a field goal to make the final score a humiliating 41-3. Clearly, the game was already long gone by the time Marshall went on his rant.
