According to interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich, starting running back Breece Hall and starting cornerback Sauce Gardner will both enter the weekend with a doubtful designation. Hall is dealing with a knee injury while Gardner is dealing with a hamstring injury.
Additionally, Ulbrich said that starting linebacker CJ Mosley will head to Injured Reserve. The veteran defender is dealing with a neck injury and has not played since Week 7.
Hall popped up on the injury report with the knee injury after the Week 12 Bye. He entered Week 13 with a questionable designation, but he played during the 21-26 loss to the Seahawks. Hall rushed for 60 yards but he began limping during the game.
Hall has rushed for 692 yards this season while leading the Jets backfield. He has scored four touchdowns on the ground. He has also tallied 401 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
With Hall likely out of the lineup, the Jets will have to rely more on Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis. Allen has rushed for 240 yards and two touchdowns this season while serving as Hall's backup. Davis only has 22 rushing yards, but he has scored a touchdown as a receiver.
Gardner, the fourth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has started all 12 games this season. He has 39 combined tackles, one sack, and six passes defensed.
According to Pro Football Focus, Gardner has a coverage grade of 74.4 as he has allowed 24 receptions. He ranks 25th out of 212 cornerbacks.
The Miami Dolphins, for comparison, are getting healthier as the team tries to remain in contention for a playoff spot. Cornerback Kendall Fuller remains in the concussion protocol, but head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters Fuller could be cleared by the end of Friday.
Left tackle Terron Armstead continues to recover from a knee injury. According to McDaniel, Armstead is trending toward suiting up for Sunday's game.
