Niners QB Brock Purdy Says He Saved Woman, Dog From Coyote Attack

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy did more than just lead his team to the Super Bowl. In fact, that may be his second-greatest accomplishment of the year.

The first is how he may have saved the life of a woman and her dog from being attacked by a coyote. Purdy revealed as much during a stop on the Pat McAfee Show.

"I can't believe that was a real thing. She walked by, and sure enough, she says she's a news anchor, and I'm like, dude, I just saved a news anchor's life from getting eaten by a coyote. It's real, man. I. can confirm it," Purdy told McAfee. "We're shooting this commercial on a hill on the outside of [San Francisco], and I see this thing trotting by. It had a long tail. I'm like, 'Bro, that looks like a mini wolf.' Sure enough, nobody was going to scream, and I was, like, alright. So, I screamed, 'Yo, there's a coyote.' And that thing went running off. Could have been an ugly day on the shoot, but we saved her."

Purdy and the Niners lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, but the fact he quarterbacked them to the game in the first place was considered a surprise. No one really predicted it.

Certainly, no one predicted that Purdy could keep a woman and her dog out of harm's way.

While coyotes don't have a reputation for attacking humans, they will frequently go after small dogs. And if the woman had been trying to protect her dog ... well, who knows what may have happened had Purdy not intervened?

"While Purdy didn't start blasting, he did scream out so the woman knew she was being stalked," wrote David Hookstead of Outkick. "His quick thinking almost certainly kept her dog alive if the coyote had decided to attack. Small dogs have no shot against a coyote."

And coyotes have no shot against Brock Purdy.
