Kadarius Toney's stint with the Browns is over, and it didn't exactly go out with a bang. After a rough outing against the Steelers — where he muffed a punt and got tagged with a taunting penalty — Cleveland waved goodbye to the wide receiver.

Toney, who had joined the practice squad in September after being cut by the Chiefs, was briefly promoted to the 53-man roster but didn't make much of an impact.
In three games, he averaged 11 yards on four punt returns and managed a whopping -4 yards on two rushing attempts. For a team trying to find spark on special teams, Toney just couldn't deliver.
But that's not all the Browns have been dealing with. Cornerback Greg Newsome, who had been solid this season with an interception and five passes defensed, is now on injured reserve after pulling a hamstring in Sunday's loss.
That's a tough break for Cleveland, especially with only four weeks left. Newsome's absence will make an already thin secondary even more vulnerable.
To help fill the gaps, the Browns have signed a handful of players to the practice squad, including receiver Kaden Davis, receiver Jaelen Gill, offensive tackle Julian Pearl, and kicker Riley Patterson.
Patterson could be a game-changer. Dustin Hopkins has been a major disappointment this season, with his accuracy plummeting from 92 percent last year to just 64 percent in 2024. Missing short-range kicks — like that 38-yarder and a 43-yarder against Pittsburgh — has been costly. Maybe Patterson will give him the push he needs to snap out of it.
On top of that, the Browns have made a roster move by releasing defensive tackle Michael Dwumfour from the practice squad. With all the moving parts, it's clear Cleveland is trying to adjust on the fly — whether it's fixing special teams, plugging gaps on defense, or hoping Patterson's arrival will spark something in Hopkins. The clock's ticking.
