Browns OC Ken Dorsey: 'No Magic Pill' To Fix Floundering Offense

The Cleveland Browns are perhaps the NFL's biggest disappointment, sitting at 1-6 one year after making the playoffs. Now, they've lost Deshaun Watson to a torn Achilles and will be starting Jameis Winston at quarterback.

They also have a new play-caller in offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, hired before the season. Only Dorsey wasn't calling the plays. Head coach Kevin Stefanski has been doing it. So why was Dorsey hired? Yeah, we have no idea.

Anyway, Dorsey is taking over those duties from Stefanski, as the offense with Watson has been atrocious. Most will tell you that Watson is the biggest reason for that. He's been bad. Now, the ball goes to Winston, and the play-calling to Dorsey. Stefanski said it was his decision to give the reigns to Dorsey. Dorsey said not to expect miracles.

"There's not a magic coach or a magic pill to play better on offense," Dorsey told reporters. "It's gonna be work. It's gonna be attention to detail. It's gonna be us, at the end of the day, locking in and fighting and going out and playing with extreme physicality, playing with speed, playing with confidence."

On the bright side, the Browns have already bottomed out, so you wouldn't think Dorsey and the offense could be worse. Some think that just not having Watson in there will offer a big boost.

Winston is a very average QB, a home-run hitter who either makes a big play or kills you. That's why he's a backup. But the Browns and their fans think he'll at least be better than Watson, who is paid like one of the best in the league but was actually perhaps the third-best on the team.

In other words, Dorsey's job would be a lot easier had the Browns just kept Joe Flacco, who came off the couch to lead them to the playoffs last season. But they rarely get anything right and this season is the until proof of that very truth.
