During Thursday's training camp practice, Cleveland Browns running back D'Onta Foreman suffered a hit to the head, and he had to leave the field in an ambulance before being taken in a helicopter to a health facility in Virginia.

The Browns released a statement regarding what happened to Foreman, highlighting the fact that he had experienced neck pain after taking a hit during a punt return drill.
"During practice today, Browns RB D'Onta Foreman sustained a direct blow to the head that resulted in neck pain. The Browns athletic training staff deployed their standard emergency action procedures to immobilize Foreman."
The statement went on to read, "He was taken to an ambulance and is being transported via helicopter to a Medical Center in Roanoke, VA, to undergo further medical evaluation. Foreman had movement in all his extremities. Updates will be provided as more information is received."
Despite the initial scare, it was later reported by ESPN, per the Browns organization, that the X-rays and CT scans all came back negative, as Foreman is supposed to return to the team after being released from the hospital on Thursday.
Roger Goodell and the NFL have been doing all they can to make the game of football safer, such as implementing rule changes, and just recently allowing players to wear extra cushioning on helmets.
That is to say, the head gear now has been designed to help reduce the risk of injury, as reports have indicated the effects concussions have on the brain later in life.
Nevertheless, it is important to keep in mind that the sport will always be dangerous, as this incident is a reminder that players take a risk every time they step onto the gridiron.
Entering into his seventh year in the league, Foreman is listed as the No. 3 RB on the team's depth chart, but with uncertainties of when exactly superstar Nick Chubb can return from his devastating injury, the Browns newly acquired back was supposed to share carries alongside Jerome Ford heading into the 2024 NFL season.
Appearing in 52 career games, Foreman has totaled 2,326 yards on 552 carries (4.2 yards per carry), while also contributing 14 rushing touchdowns.
