Fans of the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field showed their displeasure during a 6-3 loss by loudly booing and chanting "sell the team." Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has responded with some unexpected comments.

"I've only been here for — you know, it's only my first year," Williams said during his post-game presser. "Their frustrations go way longer back than I've been here. My job is to go out there and win games."
Williams continued and said that they don't focus on the "outside noise." He said the fans would cheer and boo and that the team can't react to that.

As expected, the comments from Williams about booing split the fanbase. Some Bears supporters said that the rookie was correct in his statement about the frustrations dating back to the time before he became the first overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Others, however, expressed frustration while indicating that Williams was the player who was supposed to get them back to winning games. He was supposed to lead them to the playoffs.
"I think the problem is - you're supposed to have stopped the frustration," one person posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
"'Best situation any rookie QB has ever had to start' was said more often than not back in Sept. 20 points scored in 17 (first) quarters."
Williams' rookie season has been eventful. He started the season 4-2 with wins over the Titans, Rams, Panthers, and Jaguars. He was under center as the Bears lost to the rival Packers by one point and then he forced overtime against the Vikings.
However, the Bears have gone winless since beating the Jaguars on Oct. 13, and they have turned to an interim head coach after firing Matt Eberflus. This winless stretch includes blowout losses to the Patriots, Vikings, Cardinals, and 49ers.
Now 4-12, the Bears are last in the NFC North and the only team in the division to miss the playoffs. The Lions and Vikings are both 13-2 while the Packers are 11-4.
Williams started his season slowly. He did not throw a touchdown or top 200 passing yards until Week 3 against the Colts. He has since posted four games with at least 300 passing yards. He has 3,393 yards, 19 touchdowns, and six interceptions through 16 games.
