Cam Newton did something the Panthers would never let him do during the season

You won't ever see Cam do this again.

The Carolina Panthers value their No. 1 overall pick and quarterback Cam Newton way too much to let him take any more hits than he needs to. That's why they're so afraid to let him run even out of the quarterback position when plays break down. It should come as no surprise then that they wouldn't like it very much if he ran routes as a receiver, potentially taking nasty hits over the middle of the field.

That's almost exactly what he did at his 7-on-7 camp on Saturday. It was the last day of Newton's third annual camp he hosts so he figured he would give the kids a good look at his real athleticism. He took passes from the grandson of legendary coach Joe Gibbs, Jackson Gibbs.

Looks like Newton made the right call by staying at quarterback and it's good thing there wasn't anyone defending or the Panthers would have been livid! If the current NFL MVP and leader of the team was to get injured because he's playing with kids he may very well have faced a pretty big fine from the team.
