Kyler Murray was once untouchable. In 42 high school games, he went 42-0. In his last eight games against the Seahawks, he's 0-8.

Thursday night's loss to Seattle dropped Murray to 2-9 all-time against the Seahawks. The losing streak is just the latest reminder that the promise attached to every first-round quarterback eventually collides with reality. For Murray, the reality is that the hype has not been fulfilled.
Yes, he played well enough early in his career to land a lucrative second contract that briefly put him near the top of the market. But the question now is how much longer Arizona will keep rolling with him.
The goal of drafting a quarterback No. 1 overall is to build a perennial contender. That hasn't happened. Since selecting Murray, the Cardinals have made the playoffs once — and were hammered 34-11 by the Rams in the 2021 wild card. Since then, it's been more of the same.
Fans let him hear it Thursday. The boos reflected more than a rough night on offense. They reflected the growing sense that this was supposed to look different in Year 6. Murray was supposed to be the answer. Instead, the Cardinals remain stuck.
Arizona started the week 2-0. By Thursday night, they were 2-2. Not exactly a breakthrough. And while Murray isn't solely to blame, he's the face of it.
That's why the speculation won't go away. Maybe Murray and the Cardinals need a clean break. A fresh start somewhere else, as soon as 2026, could make sense for both sides.
And frankly, Murray might welcome it.
