Our thoughts are with an NFL starter, who may not play after suffering an awful loss

Absolutely awful.

Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Casey Hayward is questionable to play in this weekend's game against the Cleveland Browns, but unfortunately, his status has nothing to do with an injury.

Sadly, Hayward may miss the Chargers' next game because he is back home in Macon, Georgia after the death of his brother, who died in a car crash at just 27-years old.

Here's part of the report on Jecaives Hayward's death, as passed on by 13wmaz.com:

"Jecaives Hayward, 27, died after being ejected from a vehicle and struck by cars on I-75 south near Sardis Church Road.

The Fort Valley man was a passenger in a 2011 Toyota Camry that struck a tractor trailer in the emergency lane on the highway, according to a Bibb County Sheriff's Office news release.

He was pronounced dead at the scene."

It's never easy to lose a family member, but it becomes even harder when it was because of an accident, and said family member was so young.

Hayward's family is undoubtedly suffering a terrible loss right now and there would be very few people who would blame him for taking the extra time to be with his family — especially during the holidays.

Hayward, who himself is 28 years old, was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second-round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He played in Green Bay for four seasons before signing a three-year, $15.3 million deal with the Chargers.
