CeeDee Lamb Avoids Troy Aikman's Comment On 'Lazy' Cowboys Receivers: 'Next Question'

Troy Aikman doesn't hold back. He's calling it like he sees it, and for him, the Dallas Cowboys' receivers have been underwhelming, to say the least. "Terrible routes," "lazy coming off the line" — those are the words of a guy who understands the game at the highest level and isn't afraid to ruffle some feathers in Dallas, as opined by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

When a Hall of Fame quarterback questions your effort, it's a callout that has to resonate, especially with a team trying to live up to its own hype.

CeeDee Lamb didn't exactly come to the defense of his teammates or his own play, either. When asked about Aikman's criticism, he went with the classic "next question" and admitted the unit needs to "be better overall." That non-answer, in some ways, says it all. Lamb seems to know there's truth to what Aikman's saying, but he doesn't want to throw more fuel on the fire.

Dak Prescott, meanwhile, sidestepped the whole thing — he's savvy enough to understand the last thing this Cowboys team needs is public drama. Prescott called out the lack of camp reps with his receivers, which is fair, but even he knows that chemistry and consistency can't wait for the perfect timing. And with Aikman stirring things up, you can bet the spotlight on Prescott and his receiving corps just got a little brighter.

Then there's Jerry Jones, who unsurprisingly took the high road, backing Aikman as a credible voice. Jones knows Aikman is Dallas royalty and isn't wrong in his assessment. But at the end of the day, the Cowboys need their on-field production to speak louder than any criticism. Whether Lamb's late arrival at camp is a reason or an excuse doesn't really matter right now; what matters is this offense needs to get on the same page fast.

The Cowboys are built for high expectations, and right now, they're not living up to them. Aikman's comments are a reminder that execution has to improve — route running, consistency, and accountability. Because in Dallas, the only acceptable answer is winning, and that "next question" from Lamb isn't going away anytime soon.
