Kansas City Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice isn't likely to be placed on the NFL Commissioner's Exempt List to start the season despite his arrest in April, an NFL spokesperson said.

"We don't anticipate he'll be placed on commissioner's exemption unless there is a material change in the case," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said on a conference call with reporters, per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
Rice, 24, is facing eight felony charges after his involvement in a high-speed hit-and-run crash in Dallas. He reportedly was driving a Lamborghini Urus and allegedly racing another driver in a Chevrolet Corvette.
"Four other vehicles were damaged in the wreck after the Lamborghini struck a retaining wall," wrote Brian Jones of On3. "Video showed five men disembarking the Urus and the Corvette and leaving the scene."
The Chiefs are aiming for a third straight Super Bowl and open the season on Sept. 5 against the Baltimore Ravens.
Rice is coming off an outstanding rookie season as the Chiefs made the run to another Super Bowl and championship. He recorded 79 catches for 938 yards and seven touchdowns.
Since then, Kansas City has added two speedy receivers in free agent Marquise Brown and first-round draft pick Xavier Worthy. They also have brought back JuJu Smith-Schuster.
"We're electric," Rice told reporters earlier this month. "We're just looking forward to putting on a show. I feel like our chemistry is going to continue to grow. I feel like it's been growing throughout the offseason and as well as during this camp right now and all we're looking forward to is to continue to grow and just get better, whether it's preseason or regular season or even playoffs."
