The Chiefs are right back where they usually are. Namely, sitting atop the AFC West odds board.

After a rocky start that had some wondering if the dynasty was wobbling, Kansas City has once again become the betting favorite to win the division, writes Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. The Chiefs opened the season with back-to-back losses to the Chargers and Eagles, briefly slipping from their familiar perch. But after Sunday night's win over the Lions, they're 3-3 and trending in the direction everyone expected.
DraftKings now lists the Chiefs at +160 to win the AFC West. The Chargers are just behind at +170, with the Broncos at +210. And if you're feeling bold, the Raiders sit at +10,000 — which tells you all you need to know about how Vegas feels about Vegas.
The Chiefs have captured the AFC West nine straight years, a run that started back when Patrick Mahomes was still in college. Even in a season where the offense has looked mortal and the defense has had to carry more weight, Kansas City isn't giving up its crown without a fight.
Bottom line — the Chargers and Broncos might be off to better starts, but history and oddsmakers are betting on Mahomes and Andy Reid to figure it out. They usually do.
As Sports Illustrated's Connor Orr wrote: "I think it's dumb that fans are freaking out about the Chiefs having no penalties called against them on Sunday night. I can also think it's dumb that the Chiefs had no penalties called against them on Sunday night. This, in conjunction with what happened in New Orleans, could be tinder for our next phase of referee outrage in 2025."
