The Chiefs were excited to welcome rookie Xavier Worthy, as they traded up four spots in the 2024 NFL draft to select the speedster with the 28th overall pick. Nevertheless, the actual city of Kansas City hasn't been so welcoming, as earlier this week, the first-round draft pick got his car stolen overnight.

Sources say, on Monday the 21-year-old's car was stolen from a residential parking garage at the apartment complex that Worthy recently moved into. Reportedly, a professional group of criminals who "knew exactly what they were doing," were the perpetrators behind the grand theft auto crime.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, as reported by Fox4kc, "Worthy's vehicle was parked, secured, and intact in the parking garage at Two Light Apartments on Monday, May 13. On Monday at 6:50 a.m., Worthy returned to the garage to find that his vehicle was missing. At 11:48 a.m, Worthy contacted police to report a stolen vehicle."
Notably, Worthy made headlines at the NFL Draft Combine, when he broke the record for fastest 40-yard dash time, 4.21 seconds. During his three-year collegiate career at the University of Texas, Worthy (5'11, 165 pounds), caught 197 passes for 2,755 yards and 27 receiving touchdowns. Furthermore, as a return man, he averaged 16.9 yards per return (371 yards on 22 attempts), which ranked him second in the FBS.
The Chiefs are in need of pass catchers for their franchise superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, as they did not have one receiver eclipse the 1,000 yard mark the previous year. Furthermore, one of Mahomes' favorite targets, Rashee Rice, who as a rookie last season had a stand out year (102 targets, 938 yards, 2 TD's), seemingly will be suspended after being responsible for causing a high-speed car accident last month, involving six vehicles. As a result, of Rice's run-in with the law this offseason, Worthy will likely be pushed into a bigger role as a rookie. With that being said, Andy Reid likes what he sees so far from the new fastest player in the NFL, calling him a "sharp kid" during rookie mini camp.
Worthy's speed, athleticism and route-running traits make him a perfect fit for the Chiefs offense. That is to say, Reid will now be able to draw up plays for Worthy, to utilize him, maybe filling the shoes of Tyreek Hill. Okay, maybe let's not get carried away, although, many scouts have also drawn comparisons between Worthy and Tank Dell, who had much success as a rookie slot receiver for the Houston Texans last season. Hopefully, the city of Kansas City treats Worthy better moving forward, as he looks to be a key contributor for the defending Super Bowl champions this upcoming 2024 NFL season.
