Chiefs Set To Bring In Former Running Back Kareem Hunt With Isiah Pacheco Headed To IR

The Kansas City Chiefs are in talks to add running back Kareem Hunt to the roster, as their starter Isiah Pacheco will be put on Injured Reserved (out for 6-8 weeks) after suffering a fractured fibula vs. the Cincinnati Bengals (25-24 win).

According to reports, the Chiefs are planning to meet with Hunt on Tuesday.

This will be a reunion for the player and team as Hunt was previously drafted by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In playing 27 games (2017-2018), he accumulated 1,075 yards (4.7 yards per carry) and 15 rushing touchdowns.

That is to say, some might remember Hunt was waived by the Chiefs in November of 2018 as result of a video that surfaced online of him seemingly pushing and kicking a woman.

Following this, the Cleveland Browns decided to give Hunt a chance, as he appeared in the 2019 season after serving an eight-game suspension.

Ultimately, Hunt appeared in 64 games for the Browns, accumulating 2,285 rushing yards on 577 carries, as well as scoring 32 touchdowns.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to reporters on Monday afternoon, while discussing the options they had in view of their starting running back position. He noted they were looking for free agents, such as the 29-year-old Hunt, but also acknowledged they had good players ready to step up and fill that role.

"We'll just see where that goes," Reid said, (per Kansas City Star). "But we're blessed to have some good people here."
