Coby Fleener Rams Saints

Questionable handling of dazed NFL player looks even worse with latest news

He's in his second season with the Saints, putting together 22 catches for 295 yards and two scores this season.

Coby Fleener took a huge shot during the New Orleans Saints tilt with the Los Angeles Rams, and exited to the sideline momentarily.

Despite the play drawing a defenseless receiver penalty and replays clearly showing helmet-to-helmet contact, Fleener wasn't put into concussion protocol, he remained in the game and eventually left with a concussion. The team announced on Saturday that Fleener was placed on injured reserve:

Someone's got some explaining to do. With all the precautions in place, there's no reason this should be a thing any longer.

Fleener spent the first four years of his career with the Indianapolis Colts, registering 183 receptions for more than 2,000 yards and 17 touchdowns.

He's in his second season with the Saints, putting together 22 catches for 295 yards and two scores this season. He had 50 catches for 631 yards and three touchdowns last season.
