Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker was set to earn $4.1 million during the 2024 NFL season, as he signed a five-year deal worth $20.3 million in 2019. Considering this, he just got a raise, as per ESPN's Adam Schefter, on Monday the former 2017 seventh-round draft pick agreed to terms on a contract extension worth $25.6 million over four years ($17.8 million guaranteed).
This deal solidifies Butker as the highest-paid kicker in the NFL, and what makes this even more impressive is that he represented himself and negotiated the deal without an agent or any legal representation.

To point out, coming off the Chiefs winning a Super Bowl, this offseason Butker received a lot of backlash for a commencement speech he gave at Benedictine College back in May. That is to say, although some felt the 29-year-old made a few valid points, the controversy stems from him making comments on "traditional family values" which some felt coincided with the stereotype that women were meant to be exclusively stay-at-home moms.

All in all, cancel culture wasn't able to keep Butker down, as he has now gotten paid after his teammates and organization have supported him throughout all of the hate that came his way.
Important to keep in mind, many of his teammates came to his defense, such as Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

"I know Harrison," Chiefs quarterback Mahomes stated. "I've known Harrison for seven years. I judge him by the character that he shows every single day and that's a good person."

Kelce did reinforce the message that Butker was a great teammate, but also went the "politically-correct" route by straying away from agreeing on much of his speech.

The Chiefs seemingly do not care about the outside noise in regards to the kicker now being a controversial figure, for their only concern is winning back-to-back Super Bowls.
With this in mind, Butker certainly is a valuable piece on the team, as he made a Super Bowl record 57-yard field goal in the Chiefs' 25-22 victory over the 49ers. To note also, he made 33-of-35 FG's last season, while being 100% on extra point attempts (tied-1st NFL).
