Tony Romo probably won't be on the Dallas Cowboys roster next season, even as the veteran former Pro Bowler's status remains up in the air when it comes to his next NFL employer. With that in mind, the Cowboys need a backup (or two) to second-year starting quarterback Dak Prescott and the organization secured that player on Monday with the re-addition of Kellen Moore.

The #Cowboys re-signed QB Kellen Moore, adding depth to their QB room. They’ll still look for an addition there.

Moore was, at least at one point in time, a legitimate option to open the 2016 season in the mix for a starting position, as Prescott was a rookie and Romo was, of course, injured. However, the former Boise State product suffered a broken fibula before the campaign even began and that took him completely out of the mix.
Quite obviously, the Cowboys hit a home run with the promotion of Prescott. But at the moment, Dallas has only Prescott, Romo and Moore on the roster at the quarterback spot. It will be interesting to see if the Cowboys make another move once the dominoes fall with regard to Romo and his next stop in the league but, for now, it appears that Kellen Moore will be "the guy" if any issue arises with Prescott during the 2017 season.
