According to the Cowboys' website, the team has made a formal request to interview Moore, the current Eagles offensive coordinator. The team does not have a date set for this sitdown considering that the Eagles are still alive in the playoffs. They will host the Rams on Sunday.
Moore, a record-setting quarterback for the Boise State Broncos, kicked off his NFL career with the Detroit Lions. He signed with the NFC North team as an undrafted rookie free agent and ultimately spent three seasons in the Motor City.
Moore landed with the Cowboys in 2015 and spent time in a variety of roles. He was a practice squad quarterback, as well as a backup to Brandon Weeden and Matt Cassel. Moore also started two games at the end of the 2015 season, and he threw for 435 yards against Washington.
Moore's playing career ended after the 2017 season as he retired, but he remained with the Cowboys. He became the quarterbacks coach in 2018 and then the offensive coordinator in 2019. His first season on the job featured the Cowboys leading the league with 431.5 yards per game. Quarterback Dak Prescott threw for 4,902 yards and 30 touchdowns.
Moore remained the offensive coordinator for the Cowboys through the 2022 season. The team won the NFC East two times while relying on his high-powered offense, and nine players earned spots in the Pro Bowl.
The former Cowboys backup spent the 2023 season as the Chargers offensive coordinator before he moved to the rival Eagles in the same role. This season featured the Eagles winning the NFC East with a 14-3 record and then defeating the Packers in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
Running back Saquon Barkley rushed for a career-high 2,005 yards while the Eagles ranked eighth in total offense with 367.2 yards per game.
