The Dallas Cowboys have lost a legend who part of their "Doomsday Defense" in the 1960s and 70s. Dave Edwards played 12 seasons in the NFL and with the Cowboys and impressively only missed one game in his career. He finished his career with 13 interceptions despite teams running the ball way more often than they do today. He passed away in his sleep on Wednesday at the age of 76.
The former All-SEC performer at Auburn was originally drafted by the Broncos in 1962, but signed with the Cowboys because he refused to play for a team that wore vertical stripes. At least that's how the story goes.
He helped the Cowboys win their first Super Bowl in Super Bowl VI and played in two others as well. He was also inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1988.
