Jerry Jones has managed to frustrate Dallas Cowboys fans once again — this time with a comment that made it sound like fixing the team's defense isn't exactly at the top of his to-do list.

In a feature by Benoit Morenne of The Wall Street Journal, Jones was discussing his deep involvement in the natural gas industry when he made a remark that raised plenty of eyebrows.
"There's $100 billion present value with gas out there," Jones said. "That's why I'm talking to you on the telephone rather than trying to fix our defense with the Dallas Cowboys."
Yeah. That didn't sit well.
When asked about the quote during his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Jones tried to clarify, saying his business ventures are ultimately meant to benefit the Cowboys, too. "It's all part of fixing the Cowboys," he said.
Still, even Jones' loyalists couldn't help but cringe at the optics. The team sits at 3-4-1, boasting one of the NFL's top offenses but a defense that has been nothing short of a mess.
"Sitting here talking on this phone with you, the visits I’m having with my fans through, that’ll help score touchdowns.”

Fans have been demanding changes for weeks, and Jones' offhand comment about choosing gas investments over football didn't exactly inspire confidence.
The 82-year-old owner has never been shy about chasing big deals — whether that's for players, stadiums, or in this case, energy. But with the Cowboys struggling to stay afloat in the NFC playoff race, fans would rather hear about fixing missed tackles than talking gas futures.
