The NFL is undoubtedly the ultimate reality show, and when it comes to drama and intrigue, no team quite delivers like the Dallas Cowboys, as written by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. Episode One for 2025? What happens with Mike McCarthy? Will he keep his job, or is a change in the air? Episode Two? Prime Time! Will Deion Sanders be considered for a role, either as head coach or in some other capacity, stirring up even more excitement? And, of course, Episode Three: The search for the next head coach begins.

The first name officially tied to the Cowboys' coaching search is former Jets head coach Robert Saleh. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Cowboys are set to interview Saleh, marking the first of what will likely be a long line of interviews as the team casts a wide net in its search for McCarthy's successor.

This, of course, ensures the Cowboys' offseason saga will stretch out for as many episodes as the team can manage.

Saleh's interview also marks an important milestone in the Cowboys' process, as it serves as the first in-person meeting with a minority candidate, a requirement under the NFL's Rooney Rule.

The Cowboys were involved in a controversial moment with the rule 22 years ago when they conducted a brief phone interview with Dennis Green before ultimately hiring Bill Parcells. That incident led to a change in the rule, which now mandates in-person interviews.

In addition to the Cowboys, Saleh is also drawing interest from the Jaguars and Raiders and is expected to be a contender for several defensive coordinator openings. With Saleh's track record as a defensive mastermind, his name will undoubtedly remain at the forefront of coaching rumors this offseason.
