This year appears to be the same old story for the Dallas Cowboys. High hopes and low results. After coming into this season hoping to snap a two-decade-plus-long Super Bowl drought, the Cowboys are barely in the playoff picture. They currently sit in third place in the NFC East with a 3-5 record.

Cowboys Dak Prescott Expected to Have Season-Ending Surgery
Things have gone from bad to worse for the Cowboys. After suffering a hamstring injury in the team's loss to the Atlanta Falcons last week, Prescott was expected to be moved to the injured reserve list with the hopes of returning later this season. But that is no longer the case.
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Prescott is now scheduled to undergo surgery that will sideline him indefinitely for the remainder of the season.
"Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is planning to undergo season-ending surgery on his partially torn hamstring, pending the opinion of one final specialist, sources told ESPN," Schefter wrote on November 9.
"Prescott is flying to New York to meet with the specialist, but Cowboys doctors already believe he needs the surgery that would sideline him four months."
Jerry Jones Gets Honest on Derrick Henry
Over the past several years, despite having a myriad of talent, the Cowboys have suffered several bitter playoff exits. After a two-decade-long long-drought without a Super Bowl appearance fans began to clamor for changes that would put the team over the hump.
That change became available when All-Pro running back Derrick Henry became available this past season. And despite having the cap flexibility during the free agency period, the Cowboys elected not to pursue Henry, who eventually signed with the Baltimore Ravens.
This season, Henry is having arguably the best season of his career. So far he has racked up 12 touchdowns and already has eclipsed the 1000 rushing mark. But even though Henry is having a career year in Baltimore, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is not convinced that would have been the case if he signed with Dallas.
"Derrick is having a career year. I don't know if he'd be having a career year in our situation... We don't run that type of offense at all... Derrick didn't fit, principally due to managing the cap," Jones said.
