Team owner Jerry Jones, speaking on 105.3. The Fan on Tuesday morning, said that Prescott is expected to land on Injured Reserve as he recovers from a hamstring injury. This means the former fourth-round draft pick will miss four games.

Prescott will be eligible to return to the lineup for the Dec. 9 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals depending on his recovery.

The next four games on the Cowboys schedule are against the Eagles (Nov. 10), Texans (Nov. 18), Commanders (Nov. 24), and Giants (Nov. 28). Three division rivals are in this group.

Prescott sustained the injury during the third quarter of last weekend's loss to the Falcons after a 5-yard scramble. He was pulled in favor of backup Cooper Rush after a discussion with the medical staff.

"I felt it when I was getting up from the run," Prescott said after the game. "I can't even say that I felt it running. The tackle, maybe something on the tackle.

"Yeah, I don't know, but when I was standing up, I felt something actually. Didn't think it was much. You get tired. It's a physical game. A lot of times you feel different things and they kind of go away."

The veteran quarterback ended the day having completed 18 of his attempted 24 passes for 133 yards with one touchdown.

This season, he has thrown for 1,978 yards with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions as the Cowboys have gone 3-8. Prescott signed a four-year, $240 million contract ahead of the season. This made him the highest-paid player at this position in the NFL.

The Cowboys will move forward with Cooper Rush as the starting quarterback while Prescott heads to Injured Reserve. Trey Lance will serve as the primary backup.

Rush has been with the Cowboys since the 2017 season. He has compiled a win-loss record of 5-1 while throwing for 1,786 yards and nine touchdowns.
