Dak Prescott says the politically correct thing even though he knows it’s not true

You've gotta admire his respect, but he's wrong.

Dak Prescott has everyone in Dallas—and the NFL—abuzz about the future of the Cowboys with him under center. Fans are salivating, talking heads are getting cotton mouth with Prescott fodder and somewhere Jerry Jones is in a recliner calling himself a genius.

Just don't expect Prescott to be on the same train as everyone else.

"This is Romo's team. I've said that from the moment that I was named the starter and he went down," Prescott said Monday will reporters breathing down his neck.

"I'm just trying to do my best to win games and put this team in a successful position to do that, week in and week out. And when he comes back, I'll leave that up to the big guys."

The problem is, no one really knows when Romo will be back. Even worse, if Dallas is playing well under the unassuming rookie, do they even want him back?

Romo is what you would call "injury-prone" and at age 36 is no spring chicken. Surely they won't rush him back, but with someone with such a checkered injury history, how long exactly before he's considered 100 percent?

Also, let's note that we're two regular season (and three preseason games) into the Prescott era. Dallas is 1-1, Prescott is turnover-less and will continue to get better with experience. He may not be lighting up the scoreboard like Romo but for the time being (and likely the distant future) this is his team.
