Raiders GM Gives Update On Davante Adams Trade Rumors

For much of the past season, trade rumors have been rampant around Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams. However, as the NFL Scouting Combine gets underway in Indianapolis, Raiders general manager Tom Telesco addressed rumors head-on that Adams could be on the move.

Telesco needed only three words to describe Adams' future in Las Vegas.

"He's a Raider," Telesco told reporters.

Adams remains one of the NFL's most prolific wide receivers, catching 103 passes for 1,144 yards with eight touchdowns, despite navigating wildly inconsistent quarterback play throughout the 2023 campaign. Through his first 10 seasons, Adams has caught 872 passes for 10,781 yards with 95 touchdowns, en route to three First-Team All-Pro selections and six trips to the Pro Bowl.

Since arriving in Las Vegas following a trade with the Green Bay Packers, Adams has pulled down 203 receptions for 2,660 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Now, when the 2024 NFL regular season kicks off, the Raiders will reunite Adams with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and, in all likelihood, a new quarterback. Getsy spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons as the Packers' passing game coordinator.

Adams is entering the third year of a five-year contract worth $140 million, which includes $65.7 million fully guaranteed.

This offseason, the Raiders have plenty of resources to build around Adams. Those start with adding a potential franchise quarterback — thanks to a projected $55.4 million in cap space, which represents the eighth-most spending flexibility in the league.

There had been reasonable speculation that Adams was unhappy following quarterback David Carr's departure. The pair were college roommates, and Carr's presence as the Raiders' signal-caller was part of what attracted Adams to Las Vegas. However, it does not sound as if Telesco is interested in moving off the star receiver, who is a centerpiece of the Raiders' offense.
