The veteran quarterback left the game with a hand injury after scrambling for a first down. He took the snap and ran toward the sideline before leaping into the air near the first-down marker. He landed on his left hand before his body hit the turf.
Carr remained on the ground for an extended period as trainers tended to him. He ultimately left the field with assistance. He held his left arm in place as he walked away. The Fox Sports crew reported that Carr had a hand injury. The team was also evaluating him for a concussion.

Injured on this play, not moving his left arm as he walked off the field. Landed hard on his left hand which would lead to concern for a wrist/forearm fracture or wrist sprain. Possible shoulder but less likely. We’ll see what the reports say pic.twitter.com/JPUwEf99sg

"(Derek's) got a left hand that they're looking at," interim head coach Darren Rizzi said in his post-game press conference. "I really don't have any other information than that.
"They're going to do all the scans and the X-rays and all that. So we'll kind of play that by ear."
Rizzi added that it appeared that the quarterback had injured his hand when he reached out to brace himself as he fell to the ground."
Before the injury, Carr had completed 20 of his 31 attempted passes for 219 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He rushed for 12 yards on two carries.
Jake Haener came into the game after Carr's injury. He did not attempt a pass as the Saints simply attempted to burn some clock and maintain the three-point lead over the Giants.
If Carr remains out of the lineup, the Saints would have to make some decisions about the quarterback situation. Haener was the backup on Sunday, but he was not the starter earlier in the season when Carr missed time with an oblique injury.
Rookie Spencer Rattler was the starter for three games. He completed 59.6% of his throws for 571 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. The Saints went 0-3 in games against the Buccaneers, Broncos, and Chargers.
