Houston Texans defensive lineman Devon Still wasn't flagged for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Carson Palmer Sunday in a preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals. But some in-the-know think a fine from the NFL is forthcoming.
As Palmer was attempting to make a tackle after throwing an interception, he was leveled by Still with a hit so vicious, it sent the quarterback's helmet hurtling into the air. Palmer lay on the ground seemingly confused for a short time but was able to walk off the field unassisted.
Similar hits on quarterbacks have cost Texans linebacker John Simon, who incidentally returned Palmer's interception on the play in question for a touchdown, and Seattle Seahawks rookie defensive tackle Jarran Reed each $18,231 in league fines.
Fox commentator and former NFL official Mike Pereira thinks Still is next in line. He said the five-year veteran is "likely" to be fined for the hit.

Drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Still was cut two years later just prior to the start of the 2014 season. But his story captured the hearts of football fans everywhere, and apparently that of the Bengals front office when it was revealed that his 5-year-old daughter was diagnosed with cancer. A day after he was cut, the Bengals re-signed Still to the practice squad so he could keep the league's health insurance policy.
Still was eventually moved to the active roster at the start of the 2014 season, but was again waived by the Bengals in September of last year.
