The Dallas Cowboys are riding the hot quarterback hand — at least for now. And all that could change at any moment.
Quarterback Tony Romo attended practice on Thursday and reportedly worked some 11-on-11 drills for the first time since suffering a back injury.
When asked about Romo's performance, Dez Bryant reportedly chimed, via Blogging the Boys:
"I think he's been losing some weight and I think I saw some abs on him," Bryant told NFL Network. "Romo's been throwing some missiles out there."
Just how close Romo is to full strength is unknown. But if he's throwing hard at practice and already starting to increase his workload, he may be getting closer as the weeks drag on.
After leading the Cowboys past the Philadelphia Eagles in a thrilling Sunday night slate, Dak Prescott was officially named the starter for Week 9 against the Cleveland Browns. Jerry Jones discussed Romo's return after the Cowboys' last win, and it provided little clarity to the situation other than that Dallas is finally doing what's right and easing the veteran back:
"There's no need of pushing [Tony Romo] that fast." Jones said, via Brandon George of Dallas Morning News. "Tony is not ready to play. There's no need of pushing it that fast. That's more about Tony's health than any other issues."
Prescott has 144 completions for 1,773 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions thus far.
