According to multiple reports, Miami is set to hire Jon-Eric Sullivan to run football operations. Sullivan was one of four finalists and completed his second interview with the team Thursday before emerging as the choice, according to Pro Football Talk and several other outlets.

Sullivan comes to Miami after a long tenure with the Green Bay Packers, where he spent more than two decades working his way through the personnel department. He joined the organization in 2004 and most recently served four seasons as vice president of player personnel, playing a key role in roster construction and scouting decisions.

Now, he steps into a much different situation.

The Dolphins fired head coach Mike McDaniel on Thursday, meaning Sullivan's first major responsibility will be helping to identify and hire Miami's next coach. Both the new GM and the next head coach will be entering their first season together in 2026.

With new leadership at the top and a coaching search already underway, the Dolphins are resetting their timeline and hoping Sullivan's long, steady background in Green Bay translates into stability and progress in South Florida. But as is always the case with these moves in every sport everywhere (especially the NFL), only time will tell if this is more steak or second-rate hamburger.
