Interest in John Harbaugh has moved quickly since his exit from Baltimore, but at least one rumored suitor appears to be sitting on the sidelines.

On Tuesday night, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that seven teams had contacted Harbaugh's agent to gauge his interest in a head coaching job. With only seven official vacancies around the league, that report suggested at least one team with a current head coach was among those making inquiries.
Naturally, speculation turned toward Miami.
Not so fast.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Miami Dolphins had not reached out to Harbaugh or engaged with him in any way as of late Wednesday morning. Jackson noted that could change as Harbaugh's interview process plays out, but for now, Miami is not part of the initial group.
That leaves Mike McDaniel still in place, at least officially. Unlike last offseason, however, there has been no public statement from owner Stephen Ross affirming McDaniel's status. A year ago, Ross issued a release confirming both McDaniel and then-general manager Chris Grier would return. This winter has been quieter.
Miami finished the 2025 season at 7-10, continuing an uneven stretch under McDaniel. Over four seasons, he holds a 35-33 record with two playoff appearances, results that place him squarely in the middle tier of NFL head coaches.
Either way, it appears the Dolphins are staying put. Whether that changes as Harbaugh's availability continues to reshape the coaching market remains one of the more intriguing subplots of the offseason.
