The President of the United States of America said in a 1984 interview with the New York Times that he could have purchased an NFL team, and one of those teams available were the Dallas Cowboys.

In the profile for the story, Trump opens up about the the availability of the teams available during that time, while also joking about feeling sorry for the guy who would ultimately purchase the Cowboys.
Via the New York Times:
''I feel sorry for the poor guy who is going to buy the Dallas Cowboys. It's a no-win situation for him, because if he wins, well, so what, they've won through the years, and if he loses, which seems likely because they're having troubles, he'll be known to the world as a loser.''
Obviously, that did not turn out to be the case for Jerry Jones after he purchased the team in 1989 considering the franchise is now worth reportedly $4.2 billion.
Trump also points out why he didn't think purchasing an NFL team was a prudent business decision and says it would have cost $40-$50 million for him to purchase a team during that time.
Safe to assume Jerry Jones isn't still wondering whether or not he made the right decision.
