Eagles fans argue over QB options amid Jalen Hurts uncertainty

The Philadelphia Eagles may be without quarterback Jalen Hurts this week as he continues his recovery from a concussion. His looming absence leaves the Eagles with three possible options heading into the weekend, yet none will satisfy all of the fans.

The three quarterbacks present at Eagles practice on Thursday were Kenny Pickett, Tanner McKee, and Ian Book, who joined the practice squad this week. Pickett was Hurts' backup last weekend during the loss to the Commanders, but he is dealing with a rib injury.

Should the Eagles start a banged-up Pickett in a game that they need to win to clinch the NFC East, or should they move forward with McKee leading the offense against the Cowboys? The answer depends on who you ask.

"If an unhealthy Kenny Pickett starts before Tanner Mckee I'm not even watching that s***," one person posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Other Eagles fans weighed in with similar comments. Some said that McKee is a better quarterback than a fully-healthy Pickett while others simply focused on the health of the two backups.

"This Tanner McKee crowd has to stop," another fan countered. "I'm 100% with Kenny Pickett. We have to win vs Dallas forget the (No. 1) seed. We want a home game for the playoffs and to win the division. That is always step 1."

Pickett, the former Steelers pick, had his share of supporters as Eagles fans examined the possible options for this weekend's NFL schedule. They said they didn't understand the McKee "hype."

Of course, some members of the fanbase didn't have a strong opinion about either quarterback. They just remained fascinated by the entire conversation.

"I don't know if they're right or wrong. But the conviction fans have that they're the former about Tanner McKee being better than Pickett is impressive," another person commented.

Pickett has appeared in 29 games, starting 24. He went 14-10 as a starter for the Steelers in 2022-23 while throwing for 4,474 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.

Pickett has appeared in four games this season for the Eagles. His most extensive action was last weekend against the Commanders as he threw for 143 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

McKee landed with the Eagles as a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He only appeared in preseason games in 2023-24.
