Eagles Star Saquon Barkley Given ‘Drug Test’ After Record-Breaking Performance Vs. Rams

The Philadelphia Eagles took down the LA Rams on Sunday night with a 37-20 win, and the player of the game was Saquon Barkley, who had two touchdowns and 255 yards rushing.

This set a franchise single-game rushing record and was the most since Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles ran for 259 yards on January 3, 2010 vs. the Denver Broncos.

Following his stellar performance, Barkley found a note in his locker, which showed that he had to report for a drug test.

"That's not me," Barkley laughed as he said it was a prank from his teammate Dallas Goedert. "I've been drug tested enough."

To point out, Barkley was actually drug tested by the NFL after his Week 9 performance vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars, as he had arguably the play of the year when he did a backwards hurdle.

"I got drug tested right after the game," Barkley revealed on a podcast, "Air It Out."

In view of the SNF game, Barkley not only rushed for a career-high in rushing yards (255; ninth-most in NFL history), but he also had four catches for 47 yards to give him 302 total yards from scrimmage on the day.

To note, that means he actually gained more yards than his whole entire former New York Giants team (245 yards vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers).

With this in mind, it may be a hard pill to swallow for the Giants front office, who refused to match the Eagles' offer of a three-year/$37.75 million contract.

What adds on to the nightmare is that just last year the Giants gave Daniel Jones a four-year/$160 million deal, and he was released this past week.

The Giants have now lost six games in a row and have a 2-9 record this season, while the Eagles have won seven straight games and are now 9-2.

All in all, John Mora certainly may have trouble sleeping at night, as Barkley just passed Derrick Henry in rushing (1,185), putting him at the forefront of the NFL MVP race. The 27-year-old leads the NFL in rushing (1,392 yards; 6.2 yards per carry), and could possibly be the first non-QB to win the award since Adrian Peterson in the 2012 season.
