Eminem, Roger Goodell Team Up For NFL Draft Promo

Just when you thought Taylor Swift had taken over the NFL, along comes the Real Slim Shady. Hey, Eminem wants a slice of the pro football pie, too.

That much became evident when the rap superstar teamed with league commissioner Roger Goodell for an NFL Draft promo. The draft is being held in Eminem's hometown of Detroit next week.

"We are so fired up this year for the NFL Draft," Eminem says to begin the video.

"Live from the D," Goodell says, pumping his fist.

Eminem gives Goodell a look.

"You could just say ... Detroit," he tells the commish.

Goodell tells Eminem he did, in fact, say Detroit. Eminem corrects him.

Then Goodell offers a second take, pumping his fist again and clarifying that the event will indeed be held in Detroit.

"Am I being punked?" Eminem demands to know as he looks around.

Eminem, of course, is a Detroit Lions super fan and was spotted by the cameras attending at least one home game last season. The Lions advanced all the way to the NFC championship game — giving some fans dreams of an Eminem vs. Swift (Kansas City Chiefs) Super Bowl.

But alas, the Lions fell to the San Francisco 49ers, and Eminem had to wait until the week before the draft to make another NFL appearance.

Now, maybe he'll be at the actual draft, surely wearing the silver-and-blue color scheme of the team that has his support. With any good fortune, we'll get to see him alongside Goodell for some more good-natured fun.

After all, the next best thing to football these days is seeing celebrities cheer on their teams. At least, that seems to be something that fans of football and celebrity are clamoring.

The 2024 NFL Draft kicks off Thursday, April 25 in downtown Detroit and runs all weekend.
