Following a summer in rehab, Johnny Manziel appeared primed for a starting spot with the Cleveland Browns.

Uneven play and off-field distractions led to Manziel appearing in just nine games, throwing seven touchdowns to five interceptions and fumbling the ball six times.
But it's the off-field distractions that primarily derailed his season, as detailed by ESPN:
Two unreported visits to Bar Louie ahead of his last start, a loss against the Kansas City Chiefs. The video of him partying and rapping (not this one, the other one). Another report that Manziel was "disheveled and unkempt" at a team meeting. Receiving a ticket for driving with expired plates. And finally the infamous Vegas rumors.
According to an unnamed member of the league, per the ESPN report, Manziel was done before any of this even happened. He's been in the NFL for a total of two seasons.
"I personally think the Browns won't keep him," one NFL source said in December, before Manziel's latest exploits. "Which should scare everybody because they know him better than anybody. They know the extent of how severe his problems are.
"They've been burned too many times to trust him."
As the Browns head into the offseason, about a week after firing the team's head coach and general manager, Cleveland can rid itself of Manziel and get a clean slate. Whether any other team — specifically the Dallas Cowboys — is willing to take a flyer on him remains to be seen.
