ESPN announces big-name addition to NFL coverage team

ESPN lost both Cris Carter and Keyshawn Johnson from their NFL coverage during the offseason.

ESPN's popular NFL pregame shows Sunday Night Countdown and Monday Night Countdown will look a little bit different from years past, but it won't be without NFL faces you're familiar with. Just a little less than two months after longtime announcer Chris Berman's agent confirmed he would not be retiring after a report surfaced suggesting that he is, the network is in the process of remodeling the popular Countdown shows around Berman.

ESPN formally announced on Monday that six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Randy Moss would be joining Berman for both the Sunday and Monday Night Countdown shows. Moss is a great big-name get for ESPN, who lost both Cris Carter and Keyshawn Johnson during the offseason.

"As a player and now as an analyst, Randy has always been candid, direct and compelling; when he talks about football and other topics, you are instantly drawn to what he has to say," said ESPN's Seth Markman, who is the senior coordinating producer for NFL studio shows. "With Matthew Hasselbeck, Charles Woodson and now Randy joining ESPN this offseason, we have added three dynamic, new voices to our studio team, all of whom are widely known and respected among football fans."

Moss worked as a NFL analyst for FOX Sports on the Sunday morning FOX NFL Kickoff pregame show, among other programs on the network. ESPN added in its release that the former Patriots wideout would contribute to the network's Super Bowl coverage as well.

"ESPN is the No. 1 sports channel in the world! Now I'm a part of a network I grew up running home to watch." Moss added. "The team that has been put together has so much football knowledge to share and I can't wait to get started. I feel very blessed and excited for this opportunity. It's going be a great and fun year."

It will certainly be a new look for the Sunday and Monday Night Countdown shows, but given Moss' experience gained as an analyst over at Fox Sports, he should be smooth transitioning to ESPN.
