Former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL running back Reggie Bush said all is OK after an attempted break-in at his Los Angeles home.
"Everyone is safe," Bush said in a text message to the LA Times.
According to reports, three men dressed in black smashed a window to Bush's home in the break-in. But nothing was stolen and no one was injured, police said.
Per CBS Sports:
"Bush earned the Heisman Trophy by accounting for 2,200 yards from scrimmage and 18 touchdowns in 2005 (at USC). The honor was later stripped from him in 2010 after an NCAA investigation found that he had received impermissible benefits during his time with the Trojans.
"However, once the NCAA overhauled its name, image and likeness policy in 2021, a push began for the Heisman Trophy Trust to overturn the decision. He was reinstated and reintroduced as USC's seventh Heisman winner on April 24 of this year. "
At the time, Bush told reporters, "I am grateful to once again be recognized as the recipient of the Heisman Trophy. This reinstatement is not only a personal victory but also a validation of the tireless efforts of my supporters and advocates who have stood by me throughout this arduous journey."
Bush was selected by the New Orleans Saints with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. He became an All-Pro punt returner and Super Bowl champion. He also spent time with the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, San Fransisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills before his retirement in 2017.
