Brown was mostly known for his amazing skills, erratic behavior and controversial comments. Now 35 years old, the latter two still seem to apply. Per the Times Union, Brown filed for federal bankruptcy in Florida on Monday — owing close to $3 million to eight creditors.
"They include a Florida truck driver who was reportedly assaulted by Brown and was awarded $1.2 million after Brown failed to appear in court for a lawsuit the truck driver filed against him," the Times Union wrote. "According to the documents, Brown also cannot pay at least three six-figure civil judgments."
There's more.
"The 35-year-old, who played for the Steelers, Raiders, Buccaneers and Patriots, also owes hundreds of thousands of dollars in credit card debt and $296 to a local plumber," the New York Post wrote. "He claims in the filing to have $50,000 or less in assets.
"Brown made $80.7 million during his 12-year NFL career, according to Spotrac. He filed for Chapter 11, which allows him to reorganize his finances while having them protected from creditors."
Brown being Brown, he tweeted out that he is indeed "broke." He seemed to make light of it, calling it the "greatest bankruptcy announcement of all time" along with a Cash App QR Code and meme from The Office.

Brown is a four-time All-Pro who won a Super Bowl with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. Brady was always a fan, at least of Brown's play, and went to bat for him multiple times.
Brown compiled 12,291 yards and 83 touchdowns in his NFL career.
