Ex-Raiders Star Henry Ruggs Break Internet Amid 10-Year Prison Sentence

Ex-Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs is in the midst of serving a 3-10-year prison sentence for a November 2021 drunk driving catastrophe that left one person dead. However, as he remains incarcerated, the former NFL standout has also remain relevant in the headlines as well.

Ruggs went viral again on February 1 after his high school basketball highlights resurfaced. And from the looks of the video, he was just as much of a freak athlete on the court as he was on the field.

Fans reacted to the video on social media.'

"A killer for sure," one fan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Praying that he gets another chance in the NFL. Carolina needs him and New England," another user added.

Ruggs Could Be Released Early as 2026

Ruggs had been drinking at the Las Vegas Top Golf location and then got in his car and drove a blistering 156 miles per hour and crashed into a car killing 23-year-old Tina Tintor and her dog.

Police later found a receipt that showed the Raiders star spent more than $450 on food and at least 20 drinks. At the time of his arrest, Ruggs' blood alcohol level was 0.16 which is twice the legal limit.

Although the severity of Ruggs' crime cannot be understated, the former Las Vegas Raiders star could be released soon. According to a report from NFL insider Dov Kleiman, Ruggs could be released on parole as early as 2026.

"Former Raiders WR Henry Ruggs III will be eligible for parole in August 2026. He was sentenced to 3-10 years for a fatal car crash that claimed a life," Kleiman said on X, formerly known as Twitter on January 12.

On his potential release date, Ruggs will be 26 years old and five years will have lapsed from the time he took his last snap. It's not like we haven't seen NFL players be welcomed back after committing crimes that were even more egregious. So a possible NFL comeback may not be completely off the table.
