Emmitt Smith has one simple message for the surging Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys legend gets a touching gift from team Monday night .

Former Dallas Cowboys great Emmitt Smith was on hand to watch the Cowboys defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday night, and the game's outcome was a touching gift for the Hall of Famer in more ways than one.

Smith's mother passed away recently and standout performances from rookies Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott, who sent flowers to Smith after his mother died, went a long way in helping mend his broken heart.

Smith uploaded a heartwarming video to Twitter after the game, congratulating the team and thanking Prescott, whose own mother died of cancer in 2013, for the flowers.

"It was great going to the Cowboys' game tonight, to see them against the Bucs," Smith said. "It was even more awesome to watch [Ezekiel Elliott] do it in person. And [to] Dak Prescott, I just gotta say 'thank you', man. You sent flowers to me and my family, during our time of need with the loss of my mother, just shows what kind of character you have. And I'm so proud of the Dallas Cowboys right now — good luck, guys. Stay healthy. And go get your ring."
