Lewis, 32, had been hired on Feb. 10. By Friday, his bio was removed from the team's website.
According to reporter Justin Spiro, a woman alleges Lewis raped and attacked her in separate incidents during his time as an assistant at Michigan from 2023 to 2024. The report also claims Lewis sent graphic and threatening messages, including texts that read, "I'm going to f— you up" and "I'd f—ing kill you."
Ann Arbor police are investigating the allegations, per ESPN.
The Falcons initially said they were gathering information. That process did not take long.
Lewis is the latest former Michigan staffer to face legal trouble. Former Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore has his own ongoing legal issues. Ex-coordinator Matt Weiss was previously charged in a separate high-profile case.
Lewis played collegiately at Tennessee before brief NFL stints and then transitioned into coaching, working at multiple college programs before landing in Atlanta.
This story is still developing. The allegations are serious. The investigation is active.
The Falcons made their decision fast. Now the legal process will take over.
